CROWDS
CROWDS
site-specific dance performance, 2018
Live performance presented by Manifattura delle Arti in Bologna's arts district on May 24, 2018. This live performance of CROWDS is part of an ongoing dance and film project between Sarah Friedland and Art Factory International, produced by Brighid Greene.
CROWDS is an investigation of the choreography of crowd typologies and the slippages between them. A group of dancers fluctuate between 13 different crowd types. Much like a flock of murmurating birds, the thresholds between these crowd types are blurred and distorted: the rocking of bodies in prayer slipping into the shaking of raving dancers, the training exercises of sports teams sliding into the structured formations of fascist spectacles.
